MIL-W-16878 / M16878 Breakdown!
M16878 as a Designated Hook-Wp Wire
The m16878 is a designated hook-up wire that is used for high-performance applications that require small dimensions, low weight, high-temperature resistance and low flame. This military specification is known for its extensive temperature range of -65°C to +250°C. Similar to its m22759 counterpart, the m16878 comes in various constructions, each of which is able to provide different strengths to the intended applications. With a voltage rating ranging from 300 Volts to 5000 Volts, the m16878 cable is rated for low and high voltage applications like military, government, and aerospace applications, but can be used for some commercial applications when required.
NEMA HP3 – HP8 are the new m16878 wiring designations and are used to identify different constructions, although most industries still use the traditional "16878". The last unique aspect that the m16878 cable has is how the conductor plating, gauge and stranding are identified. While most organizations use the last numbers at the end of the product code to identify these attributes, this unique product uses three different letters to identify those previously mentioned cable attributes.
M16878, MIL-W-16878 Construction Variations
The m16878 configurations are very durable military cables. They're manufactured using the highest quality materials such as nickel-plated conductors, silver-plated conductors, as well as tinned copper and bare copper conductors. Having quality materials is essential for providing reliable products, but also for supplying products that can withstand harsh environments and constant maintenance. Our teams' goal for the m16878 military cables is to provide as much information as possible to our customers, which is why we created the detailed chart above. Some additional information we list is the various insulations and jackets available. Some of these durable compounds are PTFE, Silicone, PVC, XLPE and even XLPO.
