What is Automotive Primary Wire:

Primary automotive wire is the most common type of automotive wire, as its name implies. These products are designed to withstand harsh conditions and high temperatures. They are also able to fulfill most general-purpose applications within an automobile, such as connecting headlights, taillights, interior lighting, and engine wiring. Composed of a multi-stranded core and flexible insulation types, these wires are ideal for pulling through tight spaces, with some options designed with an even smaller O.D. for this very purpose.

PVC Options:

Type GPT	The Type GPT wire is typically used whenever SAE J-1128 specifies general circuit wiring.
Type HDT	Type HDT automotive wire is typically used for use in applications where greater physical protection is required. The heavy wall HDT wire also allows it to excel as a primary and lighting automotive wire
Type TWP	Type TWP Wire is typically used where a small diameter and minimal weight are desirable. For use in J-1128 applications.

XLPE Options:

Type GXL	The type GXL wire is often used for use in engine compartments where higher heat resistance is required according to SAE J-1128.
Type SXL	Similar to GXL, type SXL automotive wire is typically used in engine compartments where higher heat resistance is required according to SAE J-1128.
Type TXL	Type TXL wire is typically used for automotive applications where small diameter and minimal weight are desirable. Meets the requirements of SAE J-1128 designation.
